e-Commerce Yemen Co. Ltd (part of ‘e-Commerce Group’ a group of companies headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with offices in Cairo, Kuala Lumpur and London) announced today the release of the new version of Hadhramaut’s Districts websites, as part of the 98 websites e-presence of Hadhramaut Governorate.

Mr. Ahmed Baharoon, Managing Director and Head Consultant of e-Commerce Yemen said that the new network was built entirely on Info Care .NET, a custom made, ASP .NET 2.0 based CMS that was developed in cooperation with the UK-based Info Care Business Process Management Co. Ltd.

“The websites representing 30 districts are the way to develop online communities directed towards people descending from a specific district, weather a local or an expatriate”, said Baharoon, “we want people to present their cities and villages to the world, authentic as the are, by world I mean potential investors, tourists or even expatriates who would want to do something good for their homeland”, he added. “As an expatriate of a district or even a citizen who works in a distant city, I would be able to learn real-time information that are being happening in my village or city, who’s got wed, who passed away, what are the latest prices on tomatoes, developments, setbacks …etc.” Baharoon said, “Users can upload a video of a wedding of a loved one, an audio file of a street concert or a poet convention, photos that shows beauty that can be shared with the world, opportunities for investments or a cry for help.”, he continued, “Possibilities are endless, the result is information beyond belief that can help eliminate corruption, bring forward the voice of citizens who experience shortage of services and need help from government or donors and expand the means of democracy through close C2G interaction.”
